Congrats! You’ve decided to make the switch to natural deodorant! While the process of cleaning up your beauty routine can be exciting, it is also confusing.  There are so many choices when it comes to the world of natural selections, but fear not! We have you covered…quite literally.

There are 4 ingredients you should always avoid when choosing a natural deodorant:

Baking soda

Baking soda is known as a skin irritant, and may cause a rash when applied to skin . With all that goes on under your arm, from shaving to sweating, its best to avoid anything that may further irritate your pits!

Coconut oil

“Use coconut oil,” they said! “It’s all natural!” they said. True. However, the problem with coconut oil is that it leaves stains all over white clothes. Enough said.

Parabens

Simply put, parabens are preservatives found in food and cosmetic products. Common names include methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben. The problem with parabens is they can mimic hormones, such as estrogen, in the body. Cornell University reports that extended exposure to the hormone estrogen may increase breast cancer risk. Although there is still much research that needs to be done to confirm these allegations, doing your best to avoid anything that MAY increase cancer risk is important in our books.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol is a synthetic compound used in products such as coolants and anti-freeze. There is much speculation as to whether or not propylene glycol is safe to use or not. We don’t know about you, but we don’t want to be putting anything synthetic on our body – especially a compound found in anti-freeze! The good news is, it can easily be avoided when choosing the right natural deodorant.

So, now that you know what to avoid, you can confidently choose the right deodorant for you. Did we mention the takesumi detox does not contain ANY of the ingredients listed above? In fact, it actually helps the body detox from toxins and chemicals with charcoal. Win-Win!
