Step 1: First, the kojic acid brightening bar minimizes the appearance of dark spot pigmentation with kojic acid dipalmitate and licorice root extract, while also eliminating odor-causing bacteria in the underarms.

Step 2: Next, the niacinamide brightening deodorant combines niacinamide and alpha arbutin to brighten underarms while a potent fermentation extract and activated charcoal helps control odor.

Step 3: Finally, the sweat powder absorbs excess moisture and creates a barrier on the skin to prevent chafing and friction that can contribute to hyperpigmentation and underarm rashes.

STEP 1: the kojic acid brightening bar

  • Moisten the bar and apply the lather to affected areas with a soft and gentle cloth or silicone exfoliating brush (fingers can be used if exfoliating has occurred more than twice a week).
  • Massage for 30 seconds to allow the actives to penetrate the area before rinsing off.

Follow with a generous application of deodorant to clean, dry underarms daily.

Kojic acid is a a naturally occuring chemical produced from different types of fungi and is a byproduct of fermented foods such as Japanese sake (rice wine). 

What it does: 

  • Prevents dark spot formation and brightens skin that has been affected by post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation 
  • Anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties may help prevent certain skin conditions 
  • Antioxidant protection from free radicals caused by UV damage and pollution 
  • Has anti-inflammatory properties  

Our kojic acid brightening bar uses kojic acid dipalmitate. 

Kojic dipalmitate is a derivative of kojic acid. It is considered to be the more superior form of kojic acid as it is more stable and is recommended by dermatologists for sensitive and skin of color. 

 

Kojic acid is a tyrosine inhibitor. It blocks tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for developing melanin, thus preventing the overproduction of melanin, giving the skin a brightening effect. 

Our kojic acid brightening bar works to prevent the overproduction of melanin and gradually minimizes dark spot pigmentation. 

Studies have found kojic acid to be both safe and effective at formulations less than 1%. Both the FDA and Health Canada regulate kojic acid within this limit.  

It is considered much safer and a better option for treating dark spots compared to aggressive and toxic ingredients such as hydroquinone

Wearing sleeveless for the first time in my adult life!

Only now in the sixth decade of my life on this earth that I've finally had the confidence to wear sleeveless tops and dresses! All because I had issues of ingrown hair and dark underarms (the latter due in part to my Asian DNA), which made me very self-conscious about baring my arms. Naturally I have tried many of the methods dealing with armpit issues, but nothing seemed to be very effective. Until I chanced on reviews of the Takesumi kojic acid brightening bar, which were compelling enough for me to try it out. I was, like many people, a little skeptical at first and thought it was more my imagination and wishful thinking that my armpits seemed a little lighter after only a few days' use. I continued using it on a daily basis (luckily, a little goes a long way.) One day, on impulse, I tried on a sleeveless dress, and was almost shocked to see my armpits not shouting for unwanted attention! Great set to try out the products.
I like that they make note that there are different possible causes for hyperpigmentation and the need to address the root cause to be completely effective.
I’ve seen a noticeable difference after consistent use and in addressing my particular cause of the hyperpigmentation. Highly recommend! A good set to have in your regimen if you have hyperpigmentation concerns. Smells lovely too.
