Whether you’re a natural deodorant user or new to the world of aluminum-free deodorants, chances are you’ve heard the term ‘armpit detox’ before. But what does an armpit detox do and why might you need one? Well, there’s nothing more frustrating than going about your day only to realize your deodorant has failed to keep you odor-free. Everyone has experienced odor at some point in their lives, it’s one of those universal “human discomforts”. However, there are ways to prevent this from happening, and an armpit detox can be your secret weapon against this.

WHAT IS MEANT BY ARMPIT "DETOX"?

Before getting into the nitty gritty of it, I want to clarify that the term “armpit detox” is not to be confused with an internal detox that can only occur when the liver, kidneys, lymph nodes and/or spleen filter toxins that enter the body.

An armpit detox can be the key to tackling the root cause of body odor issues by eliminating odor-causing bacteria and helps the body get rid of impurities that have built up on the surface of the skin. The term armpit detox is referring to a topical, or external detoxification to remove impurities on the skin’s surface and buildup from pores.

3 SIGNS YOU NEED AN ARMPIT DETOX

YOU ARE NEW TO NATURAL DEODORANT

Switching from antiperspirant to natural deodorant is no easy feat and science has shown that the body goes through a process to adjust to this change. Many who switch to natural deodorant experience high odor levels after the first week and give up because they don’t think it’s working or think this excess odor is permanent.

After learning about this purging phase when I developed my charcoal deodorants, I wanted to make sure new natural deodorant users knew what to expect when transitioning and go to give them time to work… I called this armpit detox The Stages of Detox.

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ODOR BREAKTHROUGH THROUGHOUT THE DAY

Even if you’ve been wearing natural deodorant for years, you may still be struggling with excessive odor and find yourself struggling to stay odor-free past noon. If this sounds like you, it may be time for an armpit detox.

YOU ARE PRONE TO CLOGGED ARMPIT PORES AND BLACKHEADS

Armpits are full of hair follicles that are prone to clogging due to deodorant buildup and improper cleansing. If you are experiencing clogged pores and armpit blackheads, an armpit detox will help remove this buildup and prevent recurrence.

HOW TO DO AN ARMPIT DETOX

An armpit detox can be as simple or complex as you want it to be, however the goal is remove surface impurities and remove armpit pore buildup.

In the case of a new natural deodorant user, the smelly armpit detox phase can be masked by the takesumi detox® method. ensuring transition with success.

DAILY ARMPIT DETOX USING THE TAKESUMI DETOX METHOD

If you are experiencing any one of the 3 signs mentioned previously, detoxing your armpits on a daily basis will be the key to preventing odor and buildup. This can be done by using the takesumi detox® two-step method.

First, use the underarm bar in the shower each morning. This bar is made with activated charcoal, apple cider vinegar and sea salt, and is specifically formulated to remove deodorant residue and buildup while killing odor-causing bacteria.

Follow with the takesumi detox charcoal deodorant. The activated charcoal formula continues to draw out pore impurities throughout the day while neutralizing odor for all-day freshness.

DIY ARMPIT DETOX PASTE RECIPE

If you would prefer a DIY solution, follow this armpit detox recipe.

  1. Make a paste with equal parts with apple cider vinegar, sodium chloride (sea salt), and charcoal.
  2. Apply this paste to your armpits in the shower.
  3. Massage this paste into each of your armpits for 30 seconds before rinsing.
  4. Pat your armpits dry. Apply deodorant once your armpits have been fully dry.
