How to tell if you're hydrated enough

The colour (and odor) of your urine can provide a surprising amount of information about your health. As our bodies process food and remove toxins from our system, we get rid of minerals and chemicals in our urine. SO, depending on how concentrated your urine  is – (which is based on how hydrated you are) it will determine if it’s lighter or darker:

Here’s a handy little colour reference for the next time you’re wondering if your urine is normal or not:

CLEAR

Clear urine indicates that you’re drinking more than the daily recommended amount of water. While staying hydrated is a good thing, drinking too much water can rob your body of electrolytes.

PALE YELLOW

Normal, healthy, well hydrated.

DARK YELLOW

Normal, but you may be mildly dehydrated.

TIP: Sometimes drinking more water is not the best solution to dehydration. Try drinking coconut water, Gatorade or even eating some watermelon, where you can replenish your electrolytes quickly and effectively!
