Did you know that stress sweat is a real thing? Not only is this a daunting reality, it is actually quite different from regular sweat. The differences lie in the fact that each type of sweat comes from different sweat glands.
Normal Sweat
Normal sweat happens day to day from working out or walking outside on a hot day. This type of sweat is secreted from our eccrine glands, which are located all over the body. This type of sweat is virtually odorless and colorless. It is comprised of mostly sodium, potassium, and water. This sweat develops to cool the body down when we are overheating.
Stress Sweat
Stress sweat on the other hand is quite a different matter, and frankly you can smell the difference! This type of sweat happens when we react to emotions such as stress, anxiety, and anger. Whether you are presenting in front of many people or getting ready for a blind date, we have all experienced stress sweat in one way or another.
This type of sweat is released from our apocrine glands, which are located in areas with lots of hair follicles such as armpits, groin and scalp. The sweat from these glands is thicker, contains more proteins and fats and produces an unpleasant odor.
Bacteria + Sweat = Odor
Bacteria love to feed on this type of sweat, and as the bacteria break down these proteins, an odor is released. Therefore it’s not actually your sweat that smells, it’s the bacteria under your arms that cause body odor! Another difference you may notice when you are “stress-sweating” is when you find your heart racing and your mouth getting dry as it is also triggered by emotion.
The Solution For Body Odor
Understanding that it’s not actually your sweat that smells, but the bacteria found under our arms that produce body odor, really helps to reassure that there is a lot you can do to prevent body odor. I created the underarm bar to address the root cause of body odor. The underarm bar is a natural antibacterial bar soap that helps fight bacteria so you are left with a clean slate to apply your natural deodorant to.
We have found that using this bar before applying deodorant helps those who need extra strength, all day, protection against odor!
So glad you’re talking about this!!! Excited to see you’ve made a non toxic antibacterial bar as well. Really hoping I can try this soon. Most other deodorants have failed means sour o me. Stress sweat is a MAJOR contributor to my odor issue. Ugh.
