If there’s one thing I love to discover and share with others are clever little hacks that help you get the most of the products you already own, and give you a new way of using them.

This week let’s talk body powder – I love using body powders (especially my sweat powder) as they can be an excellent way to stay fresh throughout the day, especially if you are a naturally sweaty person like me (they don’t call me Madame Sweat for nothing!).

ALL ABOUT THE SWEAT POWDER

When I developed my own body powder, the sweat powder, I wanted to make sure it would be easy to use while performing incredibly well. Inspired by athletic chalk used by elite athletes, the sweat powder is a 100% talc-free, ultra-absorbent powder that uses magnesium carbonate, zinc oxide and apple cider vinegar, to absorb maximum excess sweat while deodorizing.

It comes in two formats, the brush applicator, and the refill tin (which contains 3 fills), so depending on your intended use, you can truly maximize how you use this powder. The beauty of this powder is it can be used in so many ways, that will help you get the very most out of it while enjoying the wonderful benefits.

1. PREVENT CHAFING

Chafing in the underarm, inner thigh or anywhere you have skin folds is very common but can lead to irritation and rashes. A light dusting of the sweat powder in any of these areas will help absorb moisture while giving some glide and reducing friction!

the sweat powder is made with micronized rice starch powder which is ultra-silky and luxurious, making it excellent for preventing chafing.

2. REDUCE SWEAT STAINS

This one hits close to home for me, as I am a naturally sweaty person and have always struggled with avoiding sweat/moisture stains on my clothing. Thankfully a generous layer of the sweat powder on top of my deodorant helps to significantly reduce the chances of sweat stains. You can also apply it to the chest or back area if you are prone to sweat stains there.

3. TACKLE SMELLY FEET & SHOES

body powder used in smelly shoes

Powder can make a major difference when it comes to managing foot and shoe odor as feet can produce half a pint of sweat a day!

For feet, brushing them with powder before you apply your socks will help manage the moisture your feet produce and if you use the sweat powder, it has the added benefit of deodorizing ingredients like apple cider vinegar.

For shoes, I advise against wearing the same pair two days in a row as they need time to breath. Sprinkle a very light amount of powder in them, leave it overnight (or until the next wear) then shake excess powder out before wearing them.

Not to mention, the sweat powder comes in two luxurious scents (sakura blossom or crisp linen) and will give you extra boost of freshness.

4. COOL OFF ON HOT SUMMER NIGHTS

This is one of my favorite hacks as I am menopausal and experience night sweats. All you have to do is sprinkle 1-2 teaspoons of powder onto your sheets (don’t worry you won’t notice it) and slip into blissful sleep knowing the powder will help wick away sweat and moisture while you sleep.

5. USE PRIOR TO PUTTING ON YOUR PJS

This hack is similar to the previous one as it functions in the same way, to give you that extra powder to absorb sweat overnight. If you combine this with the sheets hack, you’ll give yourself double protection and wake up more refreshed than ever.

6. REDUCE PAIN DURING WAXING

If you’ve ever had a bikini or Brazilian wax then you’d know estheticians use powder on the skin prior to applying wax. If you are doing DIY waxings at home, don’t skip applying powder as this will dramatically reduce the pain you may experience.

Powder absorbs moisture and body oils to help the wax adhere to the hair, and it functions as a barrier to protect your skin.

7. ENHANCE YOUR DEODORANT PERFORMANCE

If you are a natural deodorant user, applying a powder like the sweat powder is going to completely change the game for you. It’s one of my very best hacks as not only does powder in the underarm area help minimize sweat, it also helps me stay odor-free longer.

The presence of moisture in the underarms, combined with bacteria is what creates that unwanted body odor. By setting your deodorant with a powder, you will reduce the amount of moisture there is in the area and stay fresher, much longer.

The sweat powder is also made with deodorizing ingredients like apple cider vinegar to combat odor-causing bacteria and extend your deodorant’s performance.

THE TAKEAWAY

Body powders are not just to use on babies, they can make an incredible difference in your day-to-day personal care routine and give you moisture-free comfort and manage body odors throughout the day. Using a powder like the sweat powder will upgrade your routine for the better – trust me!
